Sylas Build 26.22

C

Sylas plays a different game every match, because his ult is whichever enemy ultimate he steals. His own kit is a self-healing chain-combo skirmisher: Q lashes out for a burst of damage, W drops a heal-on-execute to keep him topped up, and E gives him a dash plus a chain that yanks him onto a target. The whole skill ceiling is picking the right ult to hijack and landing your chains to set it up. A below-curve pick at 48.0% and sliding this patch, he rewards players who can read a fight two steps ahead.

When Is Sylas Strongest?

The peak lands in the mid-game once the core items come together, and games at this rank average around 27 minutes. Sylas wins by picking his moment to dive, and the ultimate he hijacks is the whole plan, so he thrives when there is a game-changing enemy ult to borrow at the right second.

Sylas Item Build

Sylas is a spellcasting bruiser who dives in, steals a fight-changing ultimate, and heals through the damage he trades. The build leans on ability power with enough health and sustain that he can commit to a full combo and still walk out of the scrum.

Best Sylas Runes

Conqueror keys off his combo landing several hits in quick succession, which his Q, empowered auto, and W all do the moment he dives in. Whatever it adds, it rewards him for committing to the full rotation rather than poking from range. Fill the rest with what keeps him in melee range and healthy, because his damage only lands when he can stick to a target.

Build Hextech Rocketbelt first and play around your all-in windows. There is no single power window, so play the matchup in front of you. The spike to watch is Riftmaker, which comes online around 21 minutes and lets his chain-into-ult combo chunk half a health bar at once. Trade with W to stay topped up while you build toward it.

Sylas Skill Order

Kingslayer is maxed by level 9 and Abscond by 13; the price is Chain Lash, which takes its one early point at level 3 and then waits until 14 for a second, leaving the waveclear thin for a long stretch.

Sylas Abilities

Petricite Burst is the rhythm good Sylas players live on, every spell stores a charge that his next auto spends to whirl his chains for extra damage, and holding a charge hands him attack speed. Weaving those autos between Chain Lash and Kingslayer is where his real damage and pace come from.

Sylas Matchups

Sylas has to get on top of you, so his matchups come down to whether he can survive the walk in. Long-range pokers who chip him down before he lands the dash give him a hard time, while immobile targets who cannot break his chain let him all-in freely.

Look out for Kog'Maw, Vex, and Talon, long-range mages and pokey lanes that punish him before he can close the gap, so play the early game patient. He beats up on Malzahar, Akshan, and Mel in return, melee matchups and squishies his chain-into-W all-in overwhelms, so lean into those once your lane settles.
