Well above the curve at 51.9% and on the way up, her early game is pure survival, but her ultimate can turn an ally invulnerable at the worst possible moment. Kayle's entire build is about reaching her level and item spikes intact. Build toward Nashor's Tooth into Dusk and Dawn to power up her empowered autos and waves. You can lose lane and still take over once the items come online. Dusk and Dawn comes online at about the 21-minute mark, and combined with her level breakpoints she turns from a liability into the strongest thing on the map, so farm toward it and stay alive.

Kayle Skill Order

Since her passive keys off levels and spent points, the five ranks that go into Starfire Spellblade by level 9 do more than raise the missing-health burn. Radiant Blast then finishes at 13 and pulls the attack upgrade further along.

Kayle Abilities

Radiant Blast does more than poke, it strips resistances off everyone the sword passes through, softening them for the burn that follows. Celestial Blessing is her lifeline through the weak levels, a heal and a speed boost thrown to herself and whichever ally stands closest.

Be wary of Gragas, Illaoi, and Ornn, who can run Kayle down in the early game when she is at her weakest, so play safe and give ground rather than die. Her ultimate can save her or a teammate from exactly those dive attempts once it is up. She scales past Urgot, Gnar, and Zaahen hard, so survive the early trades and the game tilts your way, then group and let your range take over.
