Rumble Build 26.21

D

Rumble's power sits entirely on his heat bar, so keep one eye on the gauge. Push into the Danger Zone and his Flamespitter shreds, but overheat and he falls silent at the worst possible moment. Tough to justify at 46.0% and slipping this patch, he plays for the ult, since a well placed Equalizer can wall a whole team off an objective. Manage the heat and the fire does the rest.

When Is Rumble Strongest?

Power keeps building past the item spike into the second half, and games at this rank average around 28 minutes. Rumble leans on that window to control skirmishes with his flames, since his teamfight ceiling depends on landing a wide ultimate wall to split the enemy before they can collapse on his team.

Rumble Item Build

Rumble is a melee mage who melts through his Heat bar to keep his flamethrower and harpoons boosted, so the build stacks ability power, health, and ability haste to survive the dive and keep casting. The items make his sustained magic damage and his ultimate zone hurt far more.

Best Rumble Runes

Deathfire Touch is the natural pick, and it suits how he layers burn from range. Every Flamespitter tick and Electro Harpoon poke feeds it while he never has to walk into danger. Round it out with ability haste so the Equalizer comes back sooner, since more ults means more zoning. A simple page that plays into constant, safe damage.

Build toward Liandry's Torment into Bloodletter's Curse, since his damage is a fire tick that rewards raw ability power and burn. Bloodletter's Curse comes online at about the 22-minute mark, and the Flamespitter starts melting frontline and squishy alike. You can lose lane and still take over once the items come online. Stack the burn and let the Equalizer chip whole teams while you kite behind it.

Rumble Skill Order

Level 1 goes to Electro Harpoon, then Flamespitter owns 2, 4, 5, 7 and 9 and is finished growing at nine. The harpoon's magic resist shred waits until 8 for its second rank, and Scrap Shield holds one point from level 3 until 14.

Rumble Abilities

Without Scrap Shield, Rumble could never dive, and the ability throws up a shield plus a burst of speed that both grow once he hits the Danger Zone. Electro Harpoon does the setup, two chargeable shots that slow a target and chew through their magic resist for everything after.

Rumble Matchups

Rumble wants to shove the wave and burn down anyone who stands in his flames, so ranged champions who poke him while he manages Heat give him fits. Melee bruisers stuck fighting inside his cone and slow, grouped teams are exactly what his damage over time and ultimate wall are made to punish.

Look out for Riven, Singed, and Tryndamere, who can dive him before the heat gauge and his items give him room to breathe, so play the early game safe. He does much better into Mordekaiser, Pantheon, and Zaahen, immobile bodies that eat the full Flamespitter and cannot walk out of the Equalizer. Once the ult is up, angle it to catch as many of them as possible.
