HeartGold & SoulSilver Safari Zone
Johto's own Safari Zone rose west of Cianwood when the old warden shut the Fuchsia one. Rearrange its six areas and bait them with blocks, and the lineup shifts the longer your set-up sits.
Safari Zone is in Johto. In the story it comes after Safari Zone Gate and before Mahogany Town.
SAFARI ZONE MAP
Far west of Cianwood, the Safari Zone runs on a swappable layout, six of its twelve areas active at once and rearranged from a computer, with Surf opening the water inside.

Safari Zone Walkthrough
Peak
0 TRAINERS · 0 ITEMS · 10 SPECIES- Pay the fee at the counter inside the entrance building, take your Safari Balls and step out facing north.
- Walk straight north from the entrance door into the Peak area.
- Hunt Graveler and Magmar there by day, then return at night for Wobbuffet and Magneton.
- Set Plains blocks in the Peak to draw Zangoose, or Peak blocks to bring in Lairon.
- Head back south to the entrance door whenever you want to leave.
Pokemon Encounters
Larvitar in the Mountain area and Dratini on the Swamp Super Rod are the base-lineup prizes, both worth the grind, with Lapras surfacing at Rocky Beach. Spawns vary by habitat, and placing blocks for several days draws in higher-level Hoenn and Sinnoh species on top of the defaults.

Safari Zone Guide
Baoba opens this customizable Safari Zone, new to HGSS and absent from Gold, Silver, and Crystal. With the Area Customizer you rearrange six area slots and drop up to 30 blocks in each, which changes and widens the species that show up, and some Pokemon only appear after an area has been set up for several in-game days. There is no step or time limit here, just your 30 Safari Balls per visit.
On your first visit Baoba dares you to catch a Geodude inside the Safari Zone, and clearing that unlocks the Area Customizer. A second challenge to add the Desert Area and catch a Sandshrew hands you ownership of the whole place. After that, Baoba calls your Pokegear to unlock more block items over time and to announce area upgrades.
