HeartGold & SoulSilver Mt. Mortar
Johto's biggest cave floods the gap off Route 42 in a sprawl of side-passages. A fighter who shut himself in its furthest room hands over a Tyrogue the day someone finally outlasts him.
Mt. Mortar is in Johto. In the story you arrive from Route 42 to the south and it comes before Cliff Edge Gate.
MT. MORTAR MAP
Three mouths on Route 42 feed into Mt. Mortar's four linked chambers, where Surf and Waterfall thread the inner pools down toward its lowest room.
Pokemon Encounters
Defeat the Karate King deep inside and he hands over a Tyrogue, the prize of the cave. Machop and its Machoke evolution patrol the floors heavily, Marill crowds the water edge at 40 percent when its swarm is up, and the rods pull Goldeen up to level 40.

TRAINERS
Black Belt Kiyo waits deep in the cave with Fighting-types up to level 34, the standout among a scatter of Poke Maniacs and Super Nerds. Mortar is more about exploring than fighting, so the battles are sparse.
Mt. Mortar Guide
Deep inside Mt. Mortar on Route 42, past the Waterfall Cave entrance, the Karate King Kiyo fights you with a Level 34 Hitmonlee and a Level 34 Hitmonchan. Beat him with a free party slot and he gives you a Level 10 Tyrogue, the only one in the game. You will need Surf and Waterfall to reach him.
