FAQ
The HGSS Safari Zone lets you place blocks that change the terrain type in each area. Over time (measured in real days), certain block combinations attract new Pokemon. Some catches like Riolu and Larvitar require specific blocks placed for multiple days. The tracker records these catches when you mark them.
Almost. HGSS covers Johto and Kanto with the largest regional access in any game, but version exclusives still require trading. HeartGold has Ho-Oh earlier and features Growlithe and Mankey. SoulSilver has Lugia earlier with Vulpix and Meowth. Trade evolutions also need a trading partner.
Yes. Kanto becomes available after the Elite Four, and the Catch Route section includes both Johto and Kanto locations in story order. Mt. Silver, Safari Zone, and special encounter locations are all tracked in the post-game section.
