HeartGold & SoulSilver Ice Path
Step onto the ice near Blackthorn and you skate forward helplessly until a boulder blocks you. Working out which rock to nudge is the only way through to Clair's mountain town.
Ice Path is in Johto. In the story you arrive from Route 44 to the west and continue east to Blackthorn City.

Four icy levels make up the Ice Path, each glide sending you skidding until a wall stops you, with Strength the tool for shoving boulders into the gaps that sink you lower.

- Then slide from boulder to boulder and take the middle ladder down to B3F.

- Smash the breakable rock to take the Never Melt IceNever Melt IceAn item to be held by a Pokemon. It is a piece of ice that repels heat and boosts Ice-type moves. at the bottom left, or walk around.
- Then climb the east ladder up to B2F.

- Push free the dancer frozen to the ice in your way.

Swinub at 40 percent is worth grabbing on the way through, a Ground and Ice type that grows into Mamoswine down the line. Jynx hides in the ice at 5 to 10 percent depending on the time of day, and SoulSilver players also turn up Delibird here at 40 percent.

HM07 Waterfall waits on the ice here, a pickup rather than a gate since Strength and the slides do the work. TM72 Avalanche, a Never-Melt Ice, and the Iron and Protein vitamins make this a rewarding slide through.

An item to be held by a Pokemon. It is a piece of ice that repels heat and boosts Ice-type moves.
Ice Heal
A spray-type medicine. It defrosts a Pokemon that has been frozen solid.
Max Potion
A spray-type medicine for wounds. It completely restores the HP of a single Pokemon.
Revive
A medicine that revives a fainted Pokemon. It restores half the Pokemon's maximum HP.
Ice Path Guide
The Ice Path between Route 44 and Blackthorn City mixes sliding-ice puzzles with Strength boulders, and HM07 Waterfall sits as a pickup on its first floor. It is the only spot in Johto to catch wild Swinub and Jynx, plus Delibird in SoulSilver only. Sneasel, which was a Crystal-only addition to the Ice Path, does not appear in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
