Cross Nugget Bridge above Cerulean toward Bill's house on Route 25. The Gen I trainer gauntlet is gone in Johto-era Kanto; the only battle is a lone Team Rocket Grunt at the far bank, fielding a single Golbat.
Route 24 is in Kanto, with Route 25 to the east. In the story you arrive from Cerulean City to the south and it comes before Battle Frontier.

On Route 24 you catch up with the Grunt who fled the gym in Cerulean City, hiding on the long bridge north of town.

- Leave Cerulean City by its north edge and start up the bridge, with water on both sides.
- As you cross, the Grunt rushes out of hiding and plants himself between a young couple.
- Speak to him, and the Team Rocket GruntTeam Rocket Grunt₱1,560GolbatLv 39Weak toElectricIcePsychicRock challenges you to a fight.
- Beaten, he confesses that he hid the stolen machine part in the gym near the pool, then runs off down the bridge.
- Return south to Cerulean City for the part, or follow the bridge to its far end and on to Route 25.
