Yellow Route 24
The famous Nugget Bridge stretches north from Cerulean City, where five Trainers challenge you one after another.
Route 24 is in Kanto. In the story you arrive from Cerulean City to the south and continue east to Route 25.
ROUTE 24 MAP
Nugget Bridge is the one feature of Route 24, a narrow walkway running due north from the top of Cerulean City. Cross its length and the path curves east into the trees that lead onto Route 25.
Pokemon Encounters
Just past Nugget Bridge a man hands you a free Charmander at level 10, the second of Yellow's three scattered starters. The grass itself is unremarkable, a mix of Oddish, Bellsprout, Venonat, and Pidgey.

Clear the Nugget Bridge gauntlet and the Rocket recruiter at the end pays out a Nugget. TM45 Thunder Wave, handy for pinning a Pokemon before a catch, waits at the top.

TRAINERS
The Nugget Bridge lines up seven battles back to back, ending with a Rocket recruiter, none past level 18. Win them all to keep the Nugget.
Route 24 Guide
Head north out of Cerulean City and across Nugget Bridge. A trainer on the small plateau just past the bridge hands you a Charmander with no strings attached. If your party is full it drops straight into your PC box. Short of a link-cable trade, this gift is the only Charmander Yellow gives you.
Push through it, because the far side is where the free Charmander waits. Five trainers in a row and a Team Rocket recruit guard the plateau, and clearing them also nets a Nugget worth a tidy sum. Your lone Pikachu can wear down across that many back-to-back fights, so heal before you start across.
Trading is unavoidable. Yellow's wild tables quietly drop some Pokemon, and a few like Pikachu only come as gifts, never as wild catches. On top of that, evolutions like Alakazam, Machamp, Golem, and Gengar only finish over a link cable. You'll need a Red or Blue cart to round out the dex.
Cut and Surf open the most ground. Cut clears the small trees blocking shortcuts, and the S.S. Anne's captain teaches it. Surf carries you across the water routes like 19 and 20. Strength comes later for boulder puzzles in caves. Spread these onto a party member you don't mind using as your traveler.
