Route 14 drops south from Route 13 down one long corridor, and you can walk around every trainer on it, so each fight is your call.
  1. Follow the lowest lane west from Route 13 to the only gap in the fence, where a Bird Keeper fields Pidgeotto and Fearow once you talk to him.
  2. Go south through the gap and face the Bird Keeper looking north a little below it for his Spearow, Doduo and Fearow.
  3. Keep south down the corridor, where a Biker battles you with Koffing and Muk, then face the Bird Keeper right below him, who sends out a single bird.

  2. Keep north and a second Biker battles you with two Grimer and a Koffing. Farther north, cut the tree on the west side and walk up into the grass.
  3. Hop down the ledge below the grass and go south to the field, where a Biker battles you with three Koffing and a Grimer when spoken to.
  4. Cross the field and face the Bird Keeper looking north for Spearow and Fearow, then follow the lane running west between both sight lines into Route 15.

Pokemon Encounters

A fully evolved Venomoth turns up at just 1 percent here, level 30, the rare catch most players walk right past. Venonat at 19 percent is the easier route to the same line, and Oddish and Bellsprout grow thick around it.

Route 14 Guide

  • Trading is unavoidable. Yellow's wild tables quietly drop some Pokemon, and a few like Pikachu only come as gifts, never as wild catches. On top of that, evolutions like Alakazam, Machamp, Golem, and Gengar only finish over a link cable. You'll need a Red or Blue cart to round out the dex.

  • Cut and Surf open the most ground. Cut clears the small trees blocking shortcuts, and the S.S. Anne's captain teaches it. Surf carries you across the water routes like 19 and 20. Strength comes later for boulder puzzles in caves. Spread these onto a party member you don't mind using as your traveler.
