Yellow Route 12

Stretching south from Lavender Town, this long fishing bridge is where the Super Rod is given and a second Snorlax blocks the way.

Route 12 is in Kanto, with Lavender Town to the north and Route 11 to the west. In the story it comes after Safari Zone and continues south to Route 13.

Farfetch'd hides in the grass at 5 percent, levels 26 to 31, a duck you will not find in many other places. A level 30 Snorlax also sleeps across the route as a one-time catch, so weaken it rather than knock it out.

Route 12 Guide

  • Trading is unavoidable. Yellow's wild tables quietly drop some Pokemon, and a few like Pikachu only come as gifts, never as wild catches. On top of that, evolutions like Alakazam, Machamp, Golem, and Gengar only finish over a link cable. You'll need a Red or Blue cart to round out the dex.

  • Cut and Surf open the most ground. Cut clears the small trees blocking shortcuts, and the S.S. Anne's captain teaches it. Surf carries you across the water routes like 19 and 20. Strength comes later for boulder puzzles in caves. Spread these onto a party member you don't mind using as your traveler.
