Yellow Route 18
A short stretch where Cycling Road meets the gates of Fuchsia City, patrolled by Spearow, Doduo, and watchful Bird Keepers.
Route 18 is in Kanto. In the story you arrive from Route 17 to the north and continue east to Fuchsia City.

Route 18 is the one flat piece of Cycling Road, free of the one-way ledges above it, a short level walk east into the Fuchsia gate.
Route 18 Walkthrough
- Ride south down the lane from Route 17, then turn east at the bottom and follow the road to the gatehouse.
- Walk through the gatehouse and leave by its east door.
- Step south through the gap beside the door, where a Bird Keeper battles you from the east side, then the Bird Keeper's lone Dodrio waits farther south.
- Walk west along the top of the grass until the last Bird Keeper spots you, then return north to the path and east into Fuchsia City.

Spearow and Doduo crowd this short stretch, but stop for the Super Rod, which pulls Shellder up to level 40 for a future Cloyster.

Route 18 Guide
Trading is unavoidable. Yellow's wild tables quietly drop some Pokemon, and a few like Pikachu only come as gifts, never as wild catches. On top of that, evolutions like Alakazam, Machamp, Golem, and Gengar only finish over a link cable. You'll need a Red or Blue cart to round out the dex.
Cut and Surf open the most ground. Cut clears the small trees blocking shortcuts, and the S.S. Anne's captain teaches it. Surf carries you across the water routes like 19 and 20. Strength comes later for boulder puzzles in caves. Spread these onto a party member you don't mind using as your traveler.
