- When Oak tells you to take the ball on the table, your rival snatches it first, so Oak hands you the Pikachu he caught outside.

- Walk out of the lab and enter Blue's House through its south door, then talk to Daisy, seated at the table.
- Receive the Town MapTown MapObtained from Daisy after obtaining the Pokédex from her, then head north out of Pallet Town to Route 1.

Pallet Town is where Professor Oak hands you Pikachu at level 5, the one starter Yellow gives and the only Pikachu in the whole game. Cast off the shoreline later and the rod turns up Staryu, Tentacool, and Magikarp.

Blue
Pallet Town Guide
You don't pick one. Professor Oak gives you a Pikachu, and it refuses to ride in its Poke Ball, so it walks behind you everywhere you go. Your rival grabs the Eevee on the lab table instead. Red and Blue let you choose from three starters, but Yellow makes that call for you.
Not your starter. Give it a Thunder Stone and it shakes its head and refuses, a wink at the show. The block is hard-wired, so friendship won't budge it. For a Raichu you'll need a separate traded Pikachu, or a trade outright.
Mostly just one. Lt. Surge is the leader Yellow retuned toward the anime, and his upgraded Raichu can stop an underprepared team cold. Brock and Misty play about the same as in Red and Blue. The difficulty isn't a steady climb, more a couple of spikes you can plan around once you know they're coming.
