HeartGold & SoulSilver National Park
Trainers flock to this green park north of Goldenrod on contest days, racing to land the rarest bug they can for a prize. The new Pokeathlon Dome sits just outside its gate.
National Park is in Johto. In the story you arrive from Route 35 to the south and continue east to Route 36.

Pokemon Encounters
The Bug-Catching Contest runs here, and the lineup shifts with the calendar. Before the National Dex it is Caterpie and Weedle fodder plus the prized Scyther and Pinsir at 5 percent each; afterward, weekday rotations bring in Combee, Kricketot, and other newer bugs. A rare tree can even shake out Cherubi.

ITEMS
The park hides a Shiny Stone for evolving Togetic into Togekiss or Roselia into Roserade, the prize among the flowers. A Soothe Bell, a Quick Claw, and TM28 Dig fill out the field, plus the contest-only Sport Ball.
TM28 Dig
The user of Dig will burrow its way underground on the first turn, disappearing from view and becoming invulnerable to most attacks.

National Park Guide
Held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, the Bug-Catching Contest takes place at the National Park at the end of Route 35 north of Goldenrod. You get 20 Sport Balls and one Pokemon, and you race to catch the best single Bug-type in the time limit, scored on rarity and level. First place hands you an evolution stone, a Sun Stone before the National Dex, second place an Everstone, third a Sitrus Berry, and everyone else a Shed Shell.
Right beside the National Park at the end of Route 35 stands the Pokeathlon Dome, a major HGSS feature where three of your Pokemon compete in 10 athletic events spread across five courses. Performance leans on Pokeathlon stats like Speed, Power, and Stamina rather than battle stats. The Dome opens after you beat Whitney.
