A busy gatehouse caps the end of Route 48, thrown up to handle the crowds the safari grounds now pull west of Cianwood.

Safari Zone Gate is in Johto. In the story you arrive from Route 48 to the south and it comes before Safari Zone.

Stock up on the plaza first, since the door in its north wall is your single way onward into the Safari Zone building.
  1. Walk north from Route 48 into Safari Zone Gate, where the Pokemon Center stands on the west side.
  2. Buy vitamins from the old man east of the entrance path before you head for the safari.
  3. Search the grassy patches southwest and east of the Pokemon Center, plus the one east of the woman with Kangaskhan, to pick up three hidden Tiny Mushrooms.
  4. Follow the central path north to the building door and step inside for the Safari Zone.

Pokemon Encounters

The gate building has no grass of its own, so every catch comes from headbutting the few trees out front, mostly Exeggcute and Hoothoot with the bug beside them differing by version.
