HeartGold & SoulSilver Cinnabar Island
A volcano flattened this research island, leaving only a lone Pokemon Center on the ash. Blue turns up on the rubble once you hold the other Kanto badges, then flies off to reopen his Viridian gym.
Cinnabar Island is in Kanto. In the story you arrive from Route 21 to the north and continue east to Route 20.

- Walk east past the island signpost, which calls Cinnabar the ravaged town of the past.
- Talk to the former champion on the rubble just beyond it; he asks how many Kanto Badges you hold and sends you off until you have seven.
Search the island's northwest corner rock for a Rare Candy, the southeastern one for an Iron.
- Head south to the island's only building, where a notice by the door says the Cinnabar Gym has moved to the islands out on Route 20.

The Magmarizer hides in Cinnabar's rubble, the trade item that evolves Magmar into Magmortar. An Iron sits nearby, with a hidden Star Piece and Rare Candy for anyone combing the ruins.

Cinnabar Island Guide
Cinnabar Island is still wrecked by its volcano in HGSS, with only the Pokemon Center left standing, which is why Blaine moved his gym to the Seafoam Islands. You find Blue looking over the damage on Cinnabar, but in a remake change he refuses to head back to the Viridian Gym to fight you until you have the other seven Kanto Badges, so he is the Kanto Leader you face last.
