Emerald Safari Zone

Hoenn's pay-to-enter preserve, where you toss bait and Safari Balls instead of battling. It's the only home for outsiders like Pikachu, Heracross, and Pinsir, and a later expansion adds even more.

Safari Zone is in Hoenn. In the story you arrive from Route 121 to the south and it comes before Route 122.

SAFARI ZONE MAP

Four fenced zones make up the Hoenn Safari Zone, two of them locked behind the Mach Bike or the Acro Bike. The National Dex unlocks two more to the north, and a step limit still caps every visit.

Each northern area of the Safari Zone needs a different bike, and you carry only one per trip, so start with the Mach Bike.

Pokemon Encounters

The Safari Zone is Emerald rare-catch central. Heracross, Pinsir, and Phanpy roam the base fields, while Miltank, Stantler, Gligar, and Shuckle wait in the bike-gated expansion. Pikachu at 5% and Wobbuffet at 10% round out a hunt run entirely on limited Safari Balls, with no way to weaken anything first.
