Emerald Route 102

An early route of meadows and ponds linking Petalburg and Oldale. This is where Wally uses a borrowed Pokemon to catch his very first partner, a Ralts, with you cheering him on.

Route 102 is in Hoenn, with Oldale Town to the east. In the story it comes after Route 103 and continues west to Petalburg City.

Pokemon Encounters

Ralts hides at just 4% here, the rare worth resetting for since it grows into the powerful Gardevoir. Poochyena, Lotad, Zigzagoon, and Wurmple are the common early fillers, Seedot is rarer still, and Marill owns the water.

Route 102 Guide

  • No, and losing that split is a real perk. On one Emerald cartridge you can raise both Zangoose and Seviper, both halves of every version pair, with nothing to trade and no version column to check. A few species that skipped Ruby and Sapphire show up here too.

  • You'll want all of them. The three rods pull different fished species as you trade up from Old to Good to Super, Surf opens the surface water where Wingull and Sharpedo swim, and Dive reaches the underwater seaweed on Routes 124 to 126 where Clamperl and Relicanth live. Dive comes from the Mossdeep gym.
