Emerald Route 116

The tree-lined road east out of Rustboro toward Rusturf Tunnel. An old man's Wingull, Peeko, gets snatched by a fleeing grunt here, and chasing him down is your first real brush with the bad guys.

Route 116 is in Hoenn. In the story you arrive from Rustboro City to the west and continue north to Rusturf Tunnel.

Pokemon Encounters

Route 116 hides two finds between Rustboro and the tunnel: a 2% Skitty for a future Delcatty and, better still, Nincada at 20%, the bug that famously becomes two Pokemon when it evolves, Ninjask and Shedinja.

Route 116 Guide

  • No, and losing that split is a real perk. On one Emerald cartridge you can raise both Zangoose and Seviper, both halves of every version pair, with nothing to trade and no version column to check. A few species that skipped Ruby and Sapphire show up here too.

  • You'll want all of them. The three rods pull different fished species as you trade up from Old to Good to Super, Surf opens the surface water where Wingull and Sharpedo swim, and Dive reaches the underwater seaweed on Routes 124 to 126 where Clamperl and Relicanth live. Dive comes from the Mossdeep gym.
