Emerald Route 111
A route cut in two by a roaring sandstorm desert you can't enter without the Go-Goggles. Buried in the sand sit the Desert Ruins, home to Regirock, and the vanishing Mirage Tower.
Route 111 is in Hoenn, with Desert Ruins to the north, Mirage Tower to the north, Mauville City to the south, and Route 113 to the west. In the story it comes after Verdanturf Town and continues west to Route 112.
ROUTE 111 MAP
A sandstorm swallows the middle of Route 111, impassable until you have the Go-Goggles. Beyond it lie the sealed Desert Ruins and the Mirage Tower, which appears in the sand on some visits and is gone on others.
Pokemon Encounters
The Route 111 desert hides its best behind the Go-Goggles: Trapinch at 35% for a Flygon and Baltoy at 24% for a Claydol. Cacnea offer a 6% Cacturne in the sand. Past the dunes, the Desert Ruins crack open to Regirock at level 40.

Route 111 Guide
Push into the desert for Trapinch, Cacnea, and the fossil tower, once you can get through the blinding sand. The Go-Goggles from Lavaridge clear your view, and anything outside the Rock, Ground, and Steel types takes sand damage each turn, so pick your lead accordingly.
The Desert Ruins are buried in the Route 111 sandstorm, and Regirock stays sealed inside until you've solved the Sealed Chamber down on the sea floor. Once it's open, a Lv. 40 Regirock is waiting. Its Rock body caves to Fighting, Ground, or Water, so lead with any of those.
No, and losing that split is a real perk. On one Emerald cartridge you can raise both Zangoose and Seviper, both halves of every version pair, with nothing to trade and no version column to check. A few species that skipped Ruby and Sapphire show up here too.
You'll want all of them. The three rods pull different fished species as you trade up from Old to Good to Super, Surf opens the surface water where Wingull and Sharpedo swim, and Dive reaches the underwater seaweed on Routes 124 to 126 where Clamperl and Relicanth live. Dive comes from the Mossdeep gym.
