Emerald Mirage Tower
A crumbling tower that fades in and out of the Route 111 desert like a mirage. Climb it to grab one fossil, the Root or the Claw, and the whole structure collapses behind you.
Mirage Tower is in Hoenn, with Route 111 to the south. In the story it comes after Lavaridge Town and before Abandoned Ship.
MIRAGE TOWER MAP
Until you first step inside, Mirage Tower appears in the Route 111 sand on only some of your trips onto the route. Its cracked floors give way underfoot, and claiming a fossil at the top collapses the whole tower into the desert.
Pokemon Encounters
The sandy Mirage Tower divides evenly between Trapinch and Sandshrew at 50% each, the Trapinch worth grabbing for the Flygon line. It collapses once you take a fossil, so catch what you want before you choose.

ITEMS
Mirage Tower forces the fossil choice: the Root Fossil for Lileep or the Claw Fossil for Anorith. Grabbing one sinks the tower with the other inside, so choose before you climb.

Mirage Tower Guide
A crumbling tower out in the desert sand, exclusive to Emerald, that shows up on only some trips onto Route 111 until you first step inside. Climb it for Trapinch on the way up and one fossil at the top. Grab the fossil and the whole tower collapses behind you, sinking the other one for the moment.
Patience gets you both. You take one fossil before the tower caves in, and the skipped one resurfaces in the Desert Underpass, which opens after you enter the Hall of Fame. So a careful trainer revives both Lileep and Anorith without trading or restarting.
