How to Get Mew in Emerald
Mew sits alone on Faraway Island, a single level 30 encounter you reach only with the Old Sea Map. That item came from live distribution events that have long since ended, so a legit Emerald Mew now means trading one in. Catch rate of 45 if you ever get there.
Wild Mew may be holding when caught:

How to Get Shiny Mew in Emerald
Mew finds no route in Hoenn, so the only way to a shiny is trading one over from another Generation 3 game that received it through an official event, then checking its colors once it lands. See every game where Shiny Mew can be hunted

Does Not EvolveMew Weakness
Mew's Psychic typing leaves it vulnerable to Bug, Ghost, and Dark. Mew's overall bulk (100/100/100) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Bug, Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Psychic |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move

Moves List
Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Mew won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 16 types means it always has an effective option. Dream Eater and Psychic anchor the STAB core.

Mew Emerald Guide
Mew is a static encounter at Faraway Island in Emerald. Mew appears at level 30. Save before the encounter. These one-shot Pokemon don't respawn if you knock them out or run out of Poke Balls.
In Emerald, use Mew as a sweeper. Special attacks are the main output. It outspeeds most threats,
For Emerald, build your team around Latios, Deoxys Attack, and Mewtwo. These have the highest co-usage rates with Mew in competitive formats. They cover each other's weaknesses.
For Emerald, run Modest on Mew. +Sp. Atk is what matters, and the -Attack cut doesn't hurt this set. Fits the sweeper role.
Game Availability
Mew first appeared in Red & Blue and has been available in 20 titles. Mythical distribution means event-only access in most games, making it one of the harder Pokemon to collect.
