Is Hitmonchan Good in Emerald Playthrough?
Hitmonchan trades Hitmonlee's raw Attack for more balanced defenses. AbilityKeen Eye prevents accuracy drops. Fighting handles Norman and Sidney. The elemental punches add coverage, though Fire Punch and Ice Punch run off Special in Gen 3, not Attack.

Hitmonchan Weakness
Hitmonchan's Fighting typing leaves it vulnerable to Flying and Psychic. Not many exploitable gaps in the Fighting typing defensive chart. Hitmonchan's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Hitmonchan Evolutions
Out of 3 evolutions from Tyrogue, Hitmonchan comes from the level-up path. The method you use determines which form you end up with. Breed through Tyrogue to get eggs. Both Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee hit 455 total stats from Tyrogue. The difference is how those stats are split. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Hitmonchan to get Tyrogue eggs (with patience) using 28 partners from the Human-Like egg group. Notable egg moves include Helping Hand, High Jump Kick, Mach Punch and 2 more.
E Hitmonchan Best Moveset
Hitmonchan's 110 Sp. Def gives it switch-in opportunities that Hitmonlee cannot match, but the moveset suffers from the type split. The elemental punches (Fire, Ice, Thunder) all hit from the weaker special stat since those types are special in Gen 3. AbilityKeen Eye offers negligible benefit. Fighting TermStab from MoveSky Uppercut remains the primary physical option.
