How to Get Shiny Hypno in Emerald
Hypno keeps to Kanto, so send one over from FireRed or LeafGreen, where it prowls the shaded paths of Berry Forest; hunt the recolor there directly, or evolve a shiny Drowzee, before the transfer home. See every game where Shiny Hypno can be hunted
Hypno Weakness
Bug, Ghost, and Dark moves hit Hypno for super-effective damage. Hypno's special bulk (base 115 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Bug, Ghost, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Psychic |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move

Hypno Evolutions
Evolved from Drowzee. Hypno is the final form in this two-stage line. A decent partner pool for breeding via one egg group. Eggs take an average time to hatch. Sp.Atk grew the most through evolution (+30 over Drowzee), and Hypno peaks at 483 total stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Hypno to get Drowzee eggs easily using 28 partners from the Human-Like egg group. Notable egg moves include Assist, Barrier, Fire Punch and 3 more.
E Hypno Best Moveset
Hypno answers sleep-dependent strategies completely, with AbilityInsomnia making it immune to MoveSpore and MoveSleep Powder. The moveset pairs this with 115 Sp. Def for special tanking and MoveThunder Wave to cripple faster threats. Teams facing Breloom or other sleep leads value Hypno's guaranteed counterplay.

Moves List
Don't skip the egg moves. Hypno picks up Assist and Barrier only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Future Sight and Dream Eater while coverage across 7 types adds range.

Each move's competitive rank in RankedBoost's system. TM, Egg, and Tutor sort by tier by default (best first). On Level-Up, click the Tier header to do the same.

The arcing movement and glitter of the pendulum in a HYPNO’s hand lull the foe into deep hypnosis. While searching for prey, it polishes the pendulum.
Hypno Emerald Guide
In Emerald, use Hypno as a support. Special attacks are the main output. Not the fastest, Psychic is the primary attack.
For Emerald, run Bold on Hypno. +Defense is what matters, and the -Attack cut doesn't hurt this set. Fits the support role.
Hypno isn't catchable in Emerald. Catch one in FireRed or LeafGreen, then trade it to Emerald.
Game Availability
One of the original 151, Hypno has appeared in 19 games: most mainline games. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
