Lapras Evolutions
No evolution chain to worry about here. Lapras is a standalone Pokemon with a decent partner pool for breeding through two egg groups. Its eggs take forever to hatch. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed Lapras easily with 49 breeding partners from the Monster and Water 1 egg groups. Pass egg moves like Curse, Dragon Dance, Foresight and 5 more to offspring.
E Lapras Best Moveset
Lapras outlasts attackers through sheer staying power, with 130 HP and AbilityWater Absorb turning Water attacks into healing. The moveset combines MoveIce Beam and MoveSurf for dual TermStab with MoveThunderbolt for opposing Water-types. Teams lacking sustained damage output find Lapras nearly impossible to remove once it starts cycling MoveRest.
Best Build
Lapras best EVs are HP and Sp. Atk
Special Tank Moveset
- Ice Beam
- Heal Bell
- Thunderbolt

Moves List
You'll want to breed for Curse and Dragon Dance on Lapras. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Hydro Pump and Blizzard, they expand what Lapras can actually threaten in practice.

Lapras Emerald Guide
In Emerald, use Lapras as a balanced. Special attacks are the main output. Not the fastest,
For Emerald, build your team around Charizard and Aerodactyl. These have the highest co-usage rates with Lapras in competitive formats. They cover each other's weaknesses.
For Emerald, run Modest on Lapras. +Sp. Atk is what matters, and the -Attack cut doesn't hurt this set. Fits the balanced role.
Gigantamax Lapras is exclusive to Sword & Shield, so it's not usable in Emerald. The form has a unique appearance and a signature G-Max move.
Lapras isn't catchable in Emerald. Catch one in FireRed or LeafGreen, then trade it to Emerald.
Game Availability
Available since Red & Blue, Lapras appears in 20 games spanning 9 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Gigantamax form in Generation 8.
