How to Get Snorlax in Emerald
Snorlax is not in vanilla Emerald at all. Waking it needs the Poke Flute, a Kanto-only item, so transfer one from FireRed, LeafGreen, or the Gamecube games instead.
Snorlax cannot be caught in the wild in Emerald, but you can still get it via these paths:
Not in vanilla Emerald. Snorlax requires Poke Flute to wake (Kanto-only item). Transfer from FRLG (Routes 12 + 16) or Pokemon Colosseum/XD.
Obtain and trade from these games:
Then trade to Emerald.

Pokemon transfers only go forward through generations, never backward. Direct cross-gen trades aren't supported.
How to Get Shiny Snorlax in Emerald
Snorlax dozes on no Hoenn road; trade one over from FireRed or LeafGreen, where you save before the sleeping blocker and soft-reset for its shine before the flute wakes it, then transfer it in. See every game where Shiny Snorlax can be hunted
Shiny Snorlax Evolution
Does Not EvolveSnorlax Weakness
Snorlax's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread. Snorlax's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move

E Snorlax Best Moveset
Snorlax anchors defensive teams as an immovable special tank, with 160 HP and 110 Sp. Def absorbing hits that would break any other Pokemon. AbilityImmunity prevents MoveToxic from chipping the massive HP pool. The moveset builds momentum through MoveCurse boosts, turning Snorlax from a tank into a sweep threat while 110 Attack fires MoveBody Slam for paralysis spread.

Moves List
Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Snorlax won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 10 types means it always has an effective option. Hyper Beam and Double-Edge anchor the STAB core.

Base Stats
SNORLAX’s typical day consists of nothing more than eating and sleeping. It is such a docile POKéMON that there are children who use its big belly as a place to play.
Snorlax Emerald Guide
In Emerald, use Snorlax as a tank. Physical side carries the damage. It's slow, so Trick Room or priority moves are key.
For Emerald, run Adamant on Snorlax. +Attack is what matters, and the -Sp. Atk cut doesn't hurt this set. Fits the tank role.
Gigantamax Snorlax is exclusive to Sword & Shield, so it's not usable in Emerald. The form has a unique appearance and a signature G-Max move.
Snorlax isn't catchable in Emerald. Find it in FireRed or LeafGreen, then trade it to Emerald.
Game Availability
Available since Red & Blue, Snorlax appears in 21 games spanning 9 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Gigantamax form in Generation 8.
