Is Mr. Mime Good in Red & Blue Playthrough?
Trade-only in Vermilion City. Mr. Mime hits hard with Psychic moves and the special bulk is excellent. The trade requirement and physical frailty keep it from being top-tier, but Psychic typing in Gen 1 carries a lot of weight. Worth considering if you need a Psychic-type.

Mr. Mime Weakness
Type-wise, Mr. Mime takes extra damage from Bug. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Mr. Mime's special bulk (base 100 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Bug |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Psychic |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Moves List
Most of Mr. Mime's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Psychic and Confusion, but Normal and Fighting and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.
