Is Beedrill Good in Red & Blue Playthrough?
Comes online around the same time as Butterfree but fills a completely different role. Beedrill hits harder physically, but Butterfree's MoveSleep Powder utility is harder to replace. Bug-type attacking moves barely exist in Red and Blue, which limits what Beedrill can actually do. Most teams pick Butterfree and never look back.

How to Get Beedrill in Red & Blue
No wild Beedrill in either game. You build one by raising a Kakuna to level 10, which usually means catching a Weedle in Viridian Forest and grinding it up.
Catch Weedle or Kakuna at any of these 4 spots to eventually evolve into Beedrill.

Beedrill Weakness
Beedrill's Bug/Poison typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Flying, Psychic, Bug, and Rock. 5 weaknesses means you'll want teammates that can handle the coverage gaps.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass, Fighting |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Moves List
Without TMs, Beedrill's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Grass coverage on top of Twineedle and Pin Missile for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.
