Is Beedrill Good in Yellow Playthrough?
Requires a trade from Red or Blue. The same problems carry over: Bug-type moves are nearly useless in Gen 1, so Beedrill's Attack goes toward Normal moves instead. Butterfree's MoveSleep Powder utility is harder to replace than anything Beedrill offers.

Beedrill Weakness
Beedrill's Bug/Poison typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Flying, Psychic, Bug, and Rock. 5 weaknesses means you'll want teammates that can handle the coverage gaps.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass, Fighting |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Without TMs, Beedrill's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Grass coverage on top of Twineedle and Pin Missile for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.
