Is Golem Good in Yellow Playthrough?
Trade evolution puts Golem behind a friend with a link cable. If you get it, Golem wrecks Blaine and most of Agatha's team physically. The massive Water and Grass weaknesses show up constantly at the E4 though. A powerhouse in the right matchups, a quick KO in the wrong ones.

Misty's team hits Geodude's weaknesses hard.

How to Get Golem in Yellow
Golem can't be reached alone. A Graveler turns into one only when traded to another player, so the final Rock form always needs a friend on the other end of the cable.
Catch Geodude or Graveler at any of these 4 spots to eventually evolve into Golem.

How to Obtain Golem in Y
The path to Golem starts with Geodude at Lv. 10-46 via walking encounters. 2 catchable stages total, with locations listed for each one below.

Golem Weakness
Golem is weak to Water, Grass, Ice, Fighting, and Ground. Watch out for Water and Grass attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Electric-type moves entirely. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Golem's physical bulk (base 130 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Water, Grass |
| 2x (Weak) | Ice, Fighting, Ground |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Normal, Fire, Flying, Rock |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Poison |
| 0x (Immune) | Electric |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Golem is obtained by trade-evolving Graveler. Catch or evolve a Graveler first, then trade.
In Yellow, Golem plays as a tank. Not the fastest, so pick your spots carefully. Earthquake is the primary attack.
