Is Tauros Good in Yellow Playthrough?
One of the best Pokemon in the game. Tauros is fast, hits hard, and survives physical hits. MoveBody Slam paralyzes roughly a third of targets, and MoveEarthquake covers Rock and Electric threats. Safari Zone is frustrating to catch in, but the result justifies every attempt.

Tauros Weakness
Tauros is weak to Fighting. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. Tauros's physical bulk (base 95 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Y Tauros Best Moveset
Defines the format through 110 Attack, 100 Speed, and a movepool that exploits both. MoveBody Slam paralyzes roughly one in three hits, MoveHyper Beam finishes without the recharge turn on KO, and MoveEarthquake handles anything that resists Normal. Every team either runs this or builds to survive it.

Moves List
Most of Tauros's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Hyper Beam and Skull Bash, but Ice and Ground and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

Tauros Yellow Guide
- How do I catch Tauros in the Yellow Safari Zone?
See the Locations section above for where to find Tauros in Yellow.
Safari rules: You can only use Safari Balls. No battling. Two tactical items shift the catch/flee trade-off:
- Throw bait to keep Tauros from fleeing (flee rate cut to 1/4) but it becomes harder to catch (catch factor halved).
- Throw a rock to make Tauros easier to catch (catch factor doubled) but it flees twice as often.
- Each effect lasts 2-6 random turns; throwing one cancels the other.
In Yellow, Tauros plays as a sweeper. It outspeeds most threats, so it can pressure opponents before they move.
Yes. Paldean Tauros is a regional variant with different typing and a reworked stat spread. Introduced in Gen 9. Plays completely differently from the original.
