Machoke Weakness
Machoke's Fighting typing leaves it vulnerable to Flying and Psychic. Few weaknesses and 2 resistances make the typing clean. Just 2 weak spots to worry about, which keeps teambuilding straightforward.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Flying, Psychic |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Bug, Rock |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Machoke Yellow Guide
No. Machoke only evolves into Machamp through a real trade. There is no in-game alternative in Yellow.
Trade a Cubone to the girl at the Route 5 end of the Underground Path to get a Machoke nicknamed RICKY; it evolves into Machamp right away. This is an NPC trade, so the Machoke you receive is yours immediately, no transfer cable needed.
For Yellow, you can run Machoke through the first few routes without issues. 395 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Machamp as fast as you can.
In Yellow, use Machoke as an attacker. Physical side carries the damage. Not the fastest, Submission is the primary attack.
Game Availability
One of the original 151, Machoke has appeared in 21 games: nearly every mainline game. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
