Is Vulpix Good in Red & Blue Playthrough?
Only available in Blue version, and you won't see Vulpix until Route 7 or 8. By then your team is mostly built. It needs a Fire Stone to evolve, and the Fire-type slot has competition. Fine if you need Fire coverage on your Blue playthrough, but it's a mid-game pickup competing with established team members.

Vulpix Weakness
Water, Ground, and Rock moves hit Vulpix for super-effective damage. Vulpix's special bulk (base 65 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Water, Ground, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Grass, Bug |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
