SILPH CO. MAP
Warp panels are the only way between most of the eleven floors, dropping you into rooms nowhere near where you left. Map them or you will loop the same corridors for a while.
Pokemon Encounters
Fight up through the Team Rocket takeover and an employee on one of the upper floors hands you a Lapras at level 15. It is the only Pokemon in the whole building, and bulky enough to hold a team slot for the rest of the game.

Silph Co. Guide
A thankful Silph worker rewards you with a Lapras at level 15, found on one of the upper floors. No battle, no cost, and it's the only one in Red and Blue. Its Water and Ice typing patches two big gaps in a Kanto team, so don't head up to Giovanni without grabbing it first.
Beat Giovanni on the top floor and the company president thanks you with the Master Ball. Reaching him means grabbing the Card Key on 5F, which opens every locked door above and untangles the warp-tile maze. Save it for Mewtwo, the toughest catch in the game.
