Is Anorith Good in Emerald Playthrough?
Claw Fossil from Mirage Tower. Rock/Bug with AbilityBattle Armor blocking crits. Armaldo at 40 has strong physical Attack. Handles Phoebe and Glacia through coverage. Late evolution limits story contribution, but the E4 matchups make the fossil investment pay off.
Anorith resists most of Roxanne's coverage and hits back hard.

How to Get Anorith in Emerald
Anorith comes from the Claw Fossil rather than any grass. Bring it to the Rustboro lab and it revives at level 20. Only one fossil can be brought back per game, so picking Anorith locks Lileep out for that save.

How to Get Shiny Anorith in Emerald
Anorith comes back from the Claw Fossil, so stand before the Devon Corporation scientist in Rustboro City, save, and soft-reset each revival until the fossil returns in its shiny coloring. Compare Shiny Anorith odds across every game
Emerald Shiny Anorith Calculator
2 MethodsBoth methods here share the same odds, about 1 in 8,192 on each try. Pick whichever fits how you play.
Soft Reset: Save in front of a static, gift, or legendary encounter, then reset until it sparkles.
Breeding: Hatch eggs of this line; each egg rolls at the base shiny rate (no Masuda before Gen IV).
How many you have done, or plan to do.
| Chance | Encounters | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 10%lucky few | 864-- | -- |
| 25%one in four | 2,357-- | -- |
| 50%coin flip | 5,678-- | -- |
| 90%very likely | 18,862-- | -- |
Time assumes -- at your pace and does not change your shiny odds.
How is this calculated?
Every encounter has the same shiny chance, the Shiny Odds Per Try shown above. Each one is a separate roll that does not care how many you have already done, so the more you hunt, the higher your overall chance of at least one shiny. The formula below turns your odds and your number of tries into that combined chance.
chance after N tries = 1 − (1 − p)^N, where p = 1 / odds per try
Example at 1 in 8,192 (classic full odds): about 864 encounters for a 10 percent chance, 5,678 for 50 percent, and 18,862 for 90 percent.
The table above flips that around: it shows how many encounters it takes to reach a 10, 25, 50, and 90 percent chance at your current odds. Turning on boosts like the Shiny Charm, sandwiches, or chains improves your odds, so the encounter numbers drop.
These are estimates, not promises. Most games have no pity counter, meaning no guaranteed shiny no matter how many you hunt, so even Very Likely is not guaranteed: some hunters find one early, others go well past that point.

Anorith Weakness
Anorith's Rock/Bug typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Rock, and Steel. Not too many gaps in the chart, 3 weaknesses to account for.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Water, Rock, Steel |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Normal, Poison |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move

Anorith Evolutions
Anorith is the base form in a two-stage line leading to Armaldo. Check the evolution method below. A decent partner pool for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are slow to hatch. The evolved forms gain up to 140 total stats over Anorith. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed Anorith with 19 breeding partners from the Water 3 egg group. Pass egg moves like Knock Off, Rapid Spin, Rock Slide and 1 more to offspring.
E Anorith Best Moveset
AbilityBattle Armor blocks critical hits, and Rock/Bug typing gives decent coverage, but Anorith's stats are too low for competitive play. The moveset should focus on physical moves while building toward Armaldo.

Anorith Emerald Guide
Revive the Claw Fossil at the Devon Corporation in Rustboro City. Anorith is revived at level 5. Give it Rare Candies or experience-share if you want it ready for the late-game. Note: this fossil is only available in Emerald. The other version of Emerald has a different fossil.
In Emerald, for a casual playthrough, Anorith works as a placeholder. Rock/Bug coverage is useful early. The real payoff is Armaldo. That's where the stats start mattering.
In Emerald, use Anorith as a balanced. Physical side carries the damage. Speed is middling,
For Emerald, run Jolly on Anorith. +Speed is what matters, and the -Sp. Atk cut doesn't hurt this set. Fits the balanced role.
Game Availability
Debuting in Ruby & Sapphire, Anorith appears in 14 games across 7 generations. A reliable presence in a solid number of games, typically found through catching or hatching as a base form.
