Is Kingler Good in Emerald Playthrough?
Kingler with AbilityHyper Cutter has one of the highest Attack stats available but can't use it for Water damage. Water is Special in Gen 3. The physical/special mismatch means Kingler powers Normal moves well and its own type poorly. Same problem everywhere in Gen 3.

How to Get Shiny Kingler in Emerald
Kingler never scuttles into Emerald, so trade one from LeafGreen, the only version listing it, where a Super Rod cast at Bond Bridge or Five Isle Meadow brings it up; hook the shine there, or evolve a shiny Krabby. See every game where Shiny Kingler can be hunted
Kingler Weakness
Kingler's Water typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric and Grass. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Kingler's physical bulk (base 115 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice, Steel |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move

E Kingler Best Moveset
Kingler hits harder than almost any Water-type physically, but the format locks Water TermStab to the 50 Sp. Atk instead of the 130 Attack. Kingler Emerald Guide
In Emerald, use Kingler as a support. Special attacks are the main output. Speed is middling,
For Emerald, build your team around Blissey, Forretress, and Swampert. These have the highest co-usage rates with Kingler in competitive formats. They cover each other's weaknesses.
For Emerald, run Impish on Kingler. +Defense is what matters, and the -Sp. Atk cut doesn't hurt this set. Fits the support role.
Gigantamax Kingler is exclusive to Sword & Shield, so it's not usable in Emerald. The form has a unique appearance and a signature G-Max move.
Kingler isn't catchable in Emerald. Catch one in FireRed or LeafGreen, then trade it to Emerald.
Game Availability
Kingler first appeared in Red & Blue and spans 19 games across 9 generations. It later gained a Gigantamax form in Generation 8, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
