Ruby & Sapphire Sootopolis City

Sunk in a volcanic crater and reached only by Dive, Sootopolis is where the story peaks. The legendary's awakening breaks here at the climax. Once the skies clear, Wallace holds the final badge.

Sootopolis City is in Hoenn. In the story you arrive from Route 126 to the south and continue north to Cave of Origin.

Pokemon Encounters

Sootopolis hides a Gyarados on the Super Rod at 20 percent in its crater lake, a rare chance to catch an already-evolved threat in the wild. Everything else is Magikarp, fittingly, for the city above the Cave of Origin.

Sootopolis City Guide

  • Most cities have a Contest Hall, a Pokemon Center with a trade corner upstairs, and a Mart. Slateport runs an open-air market, and Lilycove has the region's only Department Store plus a second Contest venue. Pokemon Centers heal you for free between gym attempts.

  • Not in the cities. You make one out on the routes by using the Secret Power move on a marked tree, bush, or cave wall. After that you furnish it with decorations sold in Lilycove and Slateport, and linked friends can drop by to see it.
