Ruby & Sapphire Granite Cave
Just north of Dewford, Granite Cave drops through several dark floors. Deliver Steven the Devon Letter for TM47 Steel Wing, and grab HM05 Flash near the entrance before you press deeper.
Granite Cave is in Hoenn, with Route 106 to the south. In the story it comes after Dewford Town and before Route 107.
GRANITE CAVE MAP
Flash is the price of admission past Granite Cave's lit entrance floor, since B1F and B2F sit in pure dark and the ladders down are easy to miss without it.
Pokemon Encounters
Dewford's Granite Cave is where Aron begins the long climb to a Lairon and Aggron at 10 percent, the standout among Makuhita, Abra, and Geodude. Mawile (Ruby) or Sableye (Sapphire) rounds out the version split, and Nosepass appears only when you smash the right rocks.

Granite Cave Guide
Deliver Mr. Stone's Letter to Steven on the lower floors and he gives you TM47 Steel Wing before he leaves. A hiker near the entrance also hands you HM05 Flash. A team in the low teens clears the cave comfortably around the time you tackle Dewford's gym.
Only one, depending on your game. Mawile shows up in Ruby and Sableye in Sapphire, both around level nine to twelve on the lower floors as normal encounters. You don't need a special bike to find them, just patience, since they share the floor with Zubat and Makuhita.
Flash is optional in most Hoenn caves. A hiker on Granite Cave's first floor hands you HM05, and the Knuckle Badge lets you use it in the field. Only a few dark rooms in Victory Road really call for it, so teach it to a spare Pokemon and skip the wall-bumping.
In long caves like Victory Road they pay off, letting you reach exits and items without constant low-level battles. Keep in mind a Repel only quiets random wild encounters, so it does nothing about the level-45 Groudon or Kyogre standing in the Cave of Origin, and Shoal Cave's rooms still open and close on the tide no matter what you hold.
