Board breakdown

This breakdown rates each Psychic Pokémon you can get against all 13 Ruby & Sapphire gym leader, Elite Four and Champion fights, from Roxanne to Steven. Gardevoir does well in 5 of them, 5 fights have no Psychic answer, and the versions differ in 2 fights.

Latios tops the Psychic board after the credits, so which Psychic Pokemon helps before then?

Raise Gardevoir: it ties Alakazam at 5 of 13 fights and needs no link trade.

Each row is one Psychic pick and its 13 boxes are the fights in order. A filled box means it does well there: Gardevoir has 5, first at Brawly.

How do Lunatone, Solrock and move stats shape a Psychic team?

The versions differ in only 2 fights: in Ruby, Solrock adds an answer at Wallace, and in Sapphire, Lunatone adds an answer at Drake.

For Solrock, Rock moves use Attack, its higher stat, so they keep full power.

Each card is one thing that can change a Psychic team before you commit: the two versions, move stats and Gen 3 types.
