How to Get Abra in Yellow
Abra works two ways: catch it wild across 5 spots, or buy one at the Celadon Game Corner for 230 Coins. The coin price is low, which makes the prize route worth it if your grass luck is bad.

Abra Weakness
Abra's Psychic typing leaves it vulnerable to Bug. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Abra's special bulk (base 105 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Bug |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Psychic |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
What is Abra Weak Against
GoodAbra Evolutions
A Psychic type with 360 stats, Abra has a chain leading to Alakazam. Breeding won't work. The evolved forms gain up to 140 total stats over Abra. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Y Abra Best Moveset
25 Defense means any physical attack ends this immediately, but 105 Special is unusually high for a pre-evolution. MovePsychic exists at reduced effectiveness heading toward Kadabra. The move slots deal marginal damage while waiting for the evolution that makes the Special stat matter.

Moves List
Without TMs, Abra's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Fighting coverage on top of Psychic and Psywave for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Abra Yellow Guide
Abra costs 230 Coins in Yellow. Earn coins by playing the slot machines on the Game Corner floor or buying them at the counter (1,000 coins for ₽10,000).
In Yellow, Abra does the job early-game if you need a Psychic type on your team. Evolve it into Kadabra before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
In Yellow, use Abra as a pivot. Special attacks are the main output. Speed is middling, Psychic is the primary attack.
Game Availability
Abra has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 21 titles across all 9 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
