Abra Weakness
Abra's Psychic typing leaves it vulnerable to Bug. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Abra's special bulk (base 105 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Bug |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Psychic |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
What is Abra Weak Against
GoodAbra Evolutions
A Psychic type with 360 stats, Abra has a chain leading to Alakazam. Breeding won't work. The evolved forms gain up to 140 total stats over Abra. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
RB Abra Best Moveset
105 Special is real firepower for a pre-evolution, but 25 Defense means one physical hit ends the run. The move slots exist to deal small damage toward evolving into Kadabra, where MovePsychic actually starts threatening.

Moves List
Without TMs, Abra's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Fighting coverage on top of Psychic and Psywave for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

In Red & Blue, Abra does the job early-game if you need a Psychic type on your team. Evolve it into Kadabra before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
In Red & Blue, use Abra as a pivot. Special attacks are the main output. Speed is middling, Psychic is the primary attack.
