Azalea's Slowpoke Well drops just two levels, but its base stays shut until you can Surf the pool and shove a boulder aside with Strength.

Beneath Azalea, the Slowpoke Well earns its name, the dopey pink line filling the floor and the water from 15 percent up to a Surf-only 100. Zubat swarm the walls, and a Rock Smash turns up Shuckle.

Deep in the Slowpoke Well sit TM18 Rain Dance and a King's Rock, the trade item that turns Slowpoke into Slowking. A Super Potion is the only other find.

The Slowpoke Well is where Team Rocket first shows its hand, four Grunts around level 14 holding the bottom. Weak on their own, but the start of a long campaign against them.

Mt. Mortar is the big change. Its halls were dark in Gold and Silver, but Crystal brightened them, so Flash is no longer needed to get through. Two caves still go pitch black, Dark Cave and Kanto's Rock Tunnel, and the move only works outdoors once you hold the Zephyr Badge.
