How to Get Magmar in Yellow
Magmar doesn't appear in Yellow's wild at all, a cut that leaves the fire spitter unobtainable in-game. The only path to one is a trade from Red or Blue.
Magmar cannot be caught in the wild in Yellow, but you can still get it via these paths:

Then trade to Yellow.

Pokemon transfers only go forward through generations, never backward. Direct cross-gen trades aren't supported.
Magmar Weakness
Type-wise, Magmar takes extra damage from Water, Ground, and Rock. Magmar's special bulk (base 85 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Water, Ground, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Grass, Bug |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
