Fences carve the west into lanes, and you find each hidden item where a lower lane ends.
  1. Take the middle lane west, where a Beauty spots you from the northern passage and a Jr. Trainer battles you with two Poliwag beside the fence opening.
  2. Where a fence ends the middle lane, step down and walk the lower Route 13 lane west to pick up a hidden CalciumCalciumITEM · VITAMINHidden item on Route 13 at its end.
  3. Return east and head north, where a Jr. Trainer battles you as you step onto her lane.
  4. A Bird Keeper challenges you in the Route 13 southwest pocket. At its far end, search the tree south of the fence gap for a hidden PP Up.

Ditto turns up at 5%, useful only for its Transform trick since these games have no breeding. The grass runs the usual Kanto split, Oddish or Bellsprout by version, beside the ever-present Venonat.

Route 13 Guide

  • Yes. Each version locks away a handful of route species. Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, and Growlithe stay in Red, while Sandshrew, Bellsprout, Meowth, and Vulpix belong to Blue, with Scyther and Pinsir split the same way. Trading with the other version is the only way to fill those gaps.

  • Three rods, three givers. A fisherman in Vermilion City hands over the Old Rod, which only ever hooks Magikarp. The Good Rod comes from a fishing fan in Fuchsia City and adds Poliwag, Goldeen, and other common catches. The Super Rod, waiting on Route 12, reaches the rod-only rarities listed here.
