Is Flareon Good in Red & Blue Playthrough?
Flareon looks great on paper with high Attack, but Fire moves are Special in Gen 1. All that physical power goes toward Normal-type moves while the Fire damage comes from a weaker stat. The worst Eeveelution pick for a playthrough, and it's not close.

How to Get Flareon in Red & Blue
Flareon comes from a Fire Stone on the Celadon Eevee, and it is the rarest pick of the three since Vaporeon and Jolteon usually win the one-Eevee decision. Red and Blue give you no second Eevee to spare.
Catch Eevee at any of these 1 spot to eventually evolve into Flareon.

Flareon Weakness
Flareon is weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. Flareon's special bulk (base 110 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Water, Ground, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Grass, Bug |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

How to Evolve
RB Flareon Best Moveset
130 Attack goes completely to waste. All Fire moves use the Special stat (95) instead of Attack, so the strongest physical stat on any Fire-type can't power a single Fire move. The move slots lean on MoveBody Slam and MoveHyper Beam since the Fire TermStab comes from the wrong stat entirely.

Moves List
Leveling does the heavy lifting. Flareon picks up Flamethrower and Double-Edge along the way, building toward a complete offensive set. TMs add Normal and Dark coverage, but the foundation's already strong by then.
