Flareon's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

How to Get Flareon in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

No wild encounters for Flareon in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Bring Eevee over from Red, Yellow, or Ultra Sun, then level through the stages. Each step in the chain is laid out below.

Flareon Guide

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Flash Fire changes the entire equation for Flareon. The 525 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Flare Blitz with Silkscarf is the standard set.

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Flareon's biggest threats include Gyarados (Water), Rhydon (Ground), and Golem (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • Flash Fire is what you want on Flareon. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Guts) work on paper but Flash Fire is what makes Flareon worth using. Flash Fire synergizes with Flareon's base 110 Sp.Def, letting it soak special attacks as a pivot.

  • At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Flareon is a physical attacker with base 130 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, the best way to handle Flareon: Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Special attackers bypass its physical bulk.

Game Availability

One of the original 151, Flareon has appeared in 22 games — nearly every mainline game. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
