Stats & Training
The stat budget goes to damage. Attack and Sp. Def carry the offense, Defense doesn't even come close. A Flame Pokemon on a medium-fast 1M XP curve, worth 2 Attack EVs per KO.
Inhaled air is carried to its flame sac, heated, and exhaled as fire that reaches over 3,000 degrees F.

Flareon Weakness
Flareon is weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Flash Fire grants an additional Fire immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Flareon's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Water, Ground, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
In Black 2 & White 2, Excadrill can KO Flareon with Earthquake (153-180%). Terrakion threatens a KO with Stone Edge (148-174%). Starmie deals 74-87% with Hydro Pump.

Flareon Guide
In Black 2 & White 2, Flash Fire changes the entire equation for Flareon. The 525 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Superpower with Toxic Orb is the standard set.
Flash Fire is what you want on Flareon. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Guts) work on paper but Flash Fire is what makes Flareon worth using. Flash Fire synergizes with Flareon's base 110 Sp.Def, letting it soak special attacks as a pivot.
At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Flareon is a mixed attacker with base 130 Attack and 95 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.
For Black 2 & White 2, the core moveset is Superpower, Flamethrower, Facade, and Substitute. Superpower leads at 24% usage. Flamethrower provides reliable STAB damage.
