Stats & Training
The stat budget goes to damage. Attack and Special carry the offense, Defense doesn't even come close. A Flame Pokemon on a medium-fast 1M XP curve, worth 2 Attack stat exp per KO.
When storing thermal energy in its body, its temperature could soar to over 1600 degrees.

Flareon Weakness
Flareon is weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Flareon's special bulk (base 110 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Water, Ground, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Grass, Ice, Bug |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
In Red & Blue, Cloyster threatens a KO with Explosion (96-113%). Golem's Earthquake also KOs at 141-166%.

Flareon Guide
For Red & Blue, we rate Flareon C-Tier: a niche pick in Red & Blue's meta. At 540 BST, it fits the wallbreaker role. Body Slam anchors the moveset.
At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Flareon is a special attacker with base 110 Special. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.
For Red & Blue, the core moveset is Body Slam, Hyper Beam, Fire Blast, and Quickattack. Body Slam leads at 21% usage. This set covers the wallbreaker role with a mix of damage and utility.
In Red & Blue, the best way to handle Flareon: Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Special attackers bypass its physical bulk.
