Vaporeon doesn't stand out in any single area, but it gets the job done for in-game teams. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Been around since Gen 1. Known as the Bubble Jet Pokemon. Its damage comes from the special side.
The stat line revolves around HP. Percentage recovery gets extra mileage here. Sp. Atk backs it up, though Defense doesn't pull its weight. Worth 2 HP EVs on a medium-fast 1M XP curve to max out.
Lives close to water. Its long tail is ridged with a fin which is often mistaken for a mermaid’s.
Vaporeon Weakness
AvgType-wise, Vaporeon takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. Not many exploitable gaps in the Water typing defensive chart. Vaporeon's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
Eevee's chain leads to Vaporeon (using a Water Stone). A Water type at 525 stats, sitting in the Undiscovered group. Vaporeon and Jolteon share the same 525 total stats, but they're distributed differently. Check the comparison below to see where each one specializes.
How to Evolve
the remaining moves keeps opponents guessing about Vaporeon's real targets. An item provides extra utility while flexible EVs EVs and a nature nature handle the stat profile. An ability ties it together.

Recommended Teammates
The level-up pool tells the story here. Vaporeon learns Hydro Pump and Blizzard naturally, plus enough variety that TMs feel like bonuses. Normal and Dark coverage extends the reach beyond that.

Vaporeon doesn't appear wild. Catch Eevee instead, it shows up but it's a rare spawn. Evolve it through a special method to get Vaporeon. The 2-stage line is mapped in the step cards below.

Vaporeon looks average on paper at 525 BST. But Water Absorb is why it sees play — build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier tank on our tier list.
Vaporeon is a special attacker with base 110 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — at base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the tank role.
