Vaporeon's stats are solid on their own, but Water Absorb is what pushes it over the line. It heals when hit by Water moves. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Known as the Bubble Jet Pokemon.
The stat line revolves around HP. Percentage recovery gets extra mileage here. Sp. Atk backs it up, though Defense doesn't pull its weight. Worth 2 HP EVs on a medium-fast 1M XP curve to max out.
VAPOREON underwent a spontaneous mutation and grew fins and gills that allow them to live underwater. They have the ability to freely control water.
Vaporeon Weakness
GoodType-wise, Vaporeon takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. The Water typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Vaporeon's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
Vaporeon is one of 8 ways Eevee's chain can end. This one takes the item path, while the siblings go different directions. Breed through Eevee to get eggs. Vaporeon and Jolteon share the same 525 total stats, but they're distributed differently. Check the comparison below to see where each one specializes.
How to Evolve
Breed with Vaporeon to get Eevee eggs (with patience) using 102 partners from the Ground egg group. Notable egg moves include Charm, Curse, Endure and 3 more.
Click Baton Pass, bring in a teammate, repeat. Vaporeon's pivot game is backed by Leftovers for passive recovery each turn and max HP and Defense EVs. Waterabsorb works in the background while utility options covers bad matchups.

Breeding's the move. Charm and Curse give Vaporeon options it can't learn any other way, and Normal and Dark coverage and more already covers a decent range on top of Hydro Pump and Surf. The egg moves push it further.

Vaporeon gets Water Absorb and Hydration. But Water Absorb is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Vaporeon is a special attacker with base 110 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — at base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the wall role.
